These cold days a warm bed is a comforting thought. Here is a list of fabrics for bedding and the warmth level for each. This is from pointclickhome, the website for Metropolitan Home. I have not used bamboo fabric for decorating or clothes, it is on my list of things to try. I’ll let you know about it when I do.

A great house in Metropolitan Home
January 26, 2009My decor magazine that I most look forward to each month is Metropolitan Home. I have subscribed to it since the 70s when it was called Apartment Living. It often has houses in my favorite decorating style, which I call ecclectic modern. Clean lines with comfort. Many “modern” houses in the magazines are very stark. These do not appeal although there is usually one or two elements that I save for my clippings file. I use my files for ideas when working with clients. The spirit can often be replicated with more creativity than money.
Anyhow the point of this post is — I received the March 2009 issue of Metropolitan Home on Friday. There is a wonderful house in there created by fashion designer Lynn Mizono for herself. It is fairly small and not inexpensive I am sure since it is on Whitby Island near Seattle. However, she used plywood for the floors and Ikea furniture and cabinets. She also made some of her own light fixtures. This is one of those rare articles where the whole thing goes into my files.
If you get a chance, pick up the magazine and look at the wonderful ideas. The article is titled Material Abode.
Here is a Seattle Times article about the same house.
