A couple of months ago I received notice that one of my favorite magazines, Home, would no longer be published. The remainder of my subscription was replaced with Elle Decor. Elle Decor has some fabulous homes, however, I am sure they are all in the multi million dollar range. You can still get some ideas for your own home but it is much harder to replicate. Home magazine had smaller houses and often ones where the homeowner did some or all of the rehab work themselves. And most of them fell into the “modern ecclectic” category I like best. I often clipped pictures or kept whole magazines to share with clients.
And today I find that another magazine, Domino, in the same category has stopped publishing with the March issue. Read story here. It just means I will be spending more time online looking for inspiration. I’m sorry to lose these resources. As much as I am grateful to live in the era of the internet, I still love holding paper and turning pages.
The next best thing to paper would be for publishers to create decorating magazines for the Kindle.
